One year older, definitely wiser. 2017 seemed to be a big transition year for me. I didn’t travel too much over seas, but explored more of my own backyard. This was the year of weddings, and babies and all things I didn’t think I’d have to deal with for a while longer…looks like time is really taking it up a notch! Nonetheless, it was an extra exciting year, so without further ado…
Here are my 2017 highlights!
London for NYE!
Fuck yes! I started off this year with a bang! Not only was it my first time in London but my first time being somewhere magical for New Year’s Eve! We “cooked” cocktails in an old beat up camper that resembled the one from Breaking Bad, and ate our way through Borough Market! Saw Christmas decor galore and even sipped spiked hot chocolate at Hyde Park…what a way to start 2017! Related Post: Ultimate Guide to NYE in London
Winter Wonderland in the French Alps
Do you remember when I won a trip back in 2016? Well, this was it! From London we flew to Nice, France where we road tripped across to Vaujany. The cutest little town in the ridges of the Alps where we stayed in a shared chalet, and I had to drink 5 vodka/ojs to get up the courage to ski! Definitely a trip of a lifetime! Bachelorette in Key West
Can you believe this was my FIRST time ever going on a bachelorette weekend? I mean, I’ve taken plenty of girls trips before…but never the kind where you are surrounded by plastic dicks the whole weekend! It was awesome 😉 DICKS EVERYWHERE. Related Post: Bachelorette Parties in the US
One word: CAMPER!
My lifelong dream of renovating my own space finally came true! Not only did my boyfriend surprise me with a camper, but I got to renovate it to my liking! Um duh, wine colored ceilings and faux fur FTW! I could not wait to take this bad boy glamping!! What a sweet surprise! Related Post: How to turn camping into glamping
February was definitely a quite month for me…which is totally weird because it’s usually a HUGE month for travel. Now you understand why I said “transition” year. Had a lot of behind the scenes things go on during this month that really made me think about my future, hence why I was a hermit for most of the month.
Winery hopping in North Georgia
The ONE time I did get out and about was of course, for alcohol. I’ve traveled far and wide to taste the grapes of the world, but Georgia’s sweet muscadine wine seems to be my fav! A friend came into town, and as always, we ventured out to a few wineries for some serious taste tests! Read all about them: North Georgia Wineries
2 weddings/back to back weekends/both brides named Lauren
WHOOOO, my long time friends were getting married…and I had more excuses to get drunk! (Like I even need an excuse) The first wedding was in Homestead, FL at a beautiful venue…the weather was amazing, and I could feel the love from a mile away! The second was at the iconic, Barnsley Gardens in Georgia where the weather was less than perfect, but we made it work to our advantage! Both brides looked stunning and am so happy I got to witness them walk down the isle and marry their best friends!
Finally putting our GLAMPER to use! Sina and I decided to take a much needed weekend getaway to Asheville. Living in NC for most of my life and still had never visited. Rumors about how amazing the Biltmore was along with a slew of breweries, I knew it was right up our alley! Can’t say I was “wowwed” by the Biltmore but spending a whole day brewery hopping around town made up for that. I think we hit 8 different places? That’s a lot of booze! Girls weekend in Miami
2017 must have been pre-determined as the year of the ladies because I swear I took more girls trips this year than most! I ain’t mad at it though because what better place to strut your stuff than Miami? Yes, one of my favorite cities!! Since we were celebrating a few birthdays, we spent the weekend in an upscale hotel suite overlooking South Beach while we guzzled $25 drinks. This weekend came with some good and bad things. The bad being that my wallet was stolen the night before we left, but the good being that most of Miami didn’t even care. You live and you learn! Glad I didn’t miss out. Glamping round 2
I mean, do you blame us? We spent countless hours renovating our camper in the beginning of the year so it’s only right we show off our hard work! Back to the mountains, but this time the dogs got to tag along. This trip was tailored to some serious R & R, plus some outdoor activities.
The blog turns 1!
May 11th, which just so happens to be my lucky number! Mark your calendar bitches, it’s a celebration every year now! Thank you to all my friends, family and followers!
Shaky Beats Music Festival
Okay, I know my rule about attending new festivals, but this one is so easy that it’s almost stupid NOT to go! I had friends from all over come jam out with their clams out to some EDM in Centennial Park. When you can rave with your festie besties, why wouldn’t you? Outerbanks, North Carolina
Another first living in NC, I had never visited the Outer Banks. Damn, I seemed to be missing out on these spots growing up…gotta make up for lost time! Now that I look back, there were a lot of firsts this year including tuna fishing and our first vacation as a family in over a decade. It was nice to unwind for a week at the beach and can’t wait to go back again in 2018!
Road trip across the United States
So, I won’t go into crazy detail about every little city I visited on my 8500 mile trek around the United States…but I will say there were some highlights!
- Camping alone for the first time ever
- Seeing a concert at Red Rocks in Colorado
- Hiking 50+ miles through 10 National Parks
- Staying in a Log Cabin Hostel
- Driving the Pacific Coast Highway
- Wine Tasting in Napa and Sanoma, California
- Breaking into a camp ground (story to follow later 😉 )
- Seeing the Hollywood Sign
Since my road trip trickled into the middle of July, once I finally made it home, that’s the only place I wanted to be. I was technically gone from my house (and my bed) for 6 weeks! Needless to say the end of July was all about rest and recovery for more adventures! It’s crucial to your mental and physical health to take breaks from everything! Winery hopping around North Georgia…again
I can never get enough of a solid weekend filled with tons of laughs and great wine. Georgia is known for their muscadines (sweeeeeeet sweet wines) which means it’s one of my favorite regions to sip through! On multiple occasions in August, I went wine hopping in Northern Georgia with friends.
Picked up golf…again
Fun fact: I use to work at a golf course in North Carolina growing up. Yes, I was the cart girl (or beer bitch as my dad calls it) who served up ice cold beverages on the course! Well, my boyfriend and I decided to get back into it! It’s a great way for us to bond and gets us out of the house doing something fun! Plus, there are some amazing golf courses around the globe that I would love to play!
Launched my new company Champagne Social, LLC
It had been in the making for a little while, and finally I found the perfect name for my new business! A social media marketing and management company to help small and large businesses grow their social following! YAY ME for becoming a boss ass bitch, literally.
Day trip to Chattanooga, TN
So many amazing day trips from Atlanta! Since I was really focused on growing my business, these day trips were essential to my sanity, hence Chattanooga. Sina and I ate donuts, kayaked around the river and drank our weight in beer! Related Post: Perfect day in Chattanooga
Visited the Cayman Islands
WHY HAS EVERYONE NOT BEEN HERE?? Wow, I am honestly mad that I never really had much interest in the Cayman Islands because it is magical! The white sand beaches, the crystal clear blue water and the delectable food just sent the whole trip over the top! Not to mention I teamed up with some awesome people to ride around the island on a yacht while sipping mimosas, getting professional pictures done! From swimming with sting rays to taking a food tour around the island, this was definitely a trip for the books! Did I mention top floor ocean view suite? Yeah…amazing. Went to Imagine Festival with my besties
Hurricane Irma stopped us from linking up in Orlando, but didn’t stop us from getting together! Instead, my festie besties came to visit me in Atlanta where we bought a one day ticket to Imagine Festival! Even though we had to stand in line for 3 hours just to get in, it was worth it! The whole month of October was dedicated to doing fall shit with my frands. I knew that November/December would be hectic and I’d hardly be home, so anything you could think of I tried to cram it in! Apple cider tastings, glamping in Blue Ridge, dressing the pups up for Halloween, seeing scary movies, Haunted Houses at Six Flags. It was a nice month doing what normal, non-crazy travel schedule people do ha. Related Post: Fall Activities in Georgia
Blue Ridge Birthday cabin weekend
My second annual birthday bash in the mountains! 15 of my closest friends gathered together to celebrate me for a weekend of heavy drinking in our onesies. I couldn’t imagine spending my birthday month any other way!
Celebrated my actual birthday in Washington D.C!
Holy shit, and just like that I’m 27. Don’t worry, I will age like fine wine 😉 Sina decided we spend the weekend away in a new city (for him at least) just enjoying each others company and exploring the metro area. I got a homemade pop tart, lots of fireball shots and some of the most incredible food I’ve eaten in the US here! The perfect way to celebrate!
Gender Reveal for my best friend
Over Thanksgiving holiday I was in charge of putting on a gender reveal party for my bestie! IT’S A GIRLLLLL <3 I cannot wait to be the Godmother and favorite aunt of all time! Baby Aria due April 2018.
Art Basel in Miami
This has been on my list of things to do for a few years now!! Since December is always a super hectic month, I never can find the time to go. This year I had more of an excuse because my boyfriends cousin was having her bachelorette party the same weekend!! WHOOOO. Let’s just say that it was insane and 5 days in Miami will make your wallet and morals fall very very low. I guess that’s why I love it?
Wilmington, North Carolina
Spent a really nice 10 days at home reconnecting with family and old friends. A much needed break to my 2 month spree of hardly being home in Georgia. I did a whole lot of nothing while I was there to help me rejuvenate for 2018’s extra busy travel year! As if the holiday season couldn’t get any better…Sina surprised me with a trip to SOUTH AFRICA! Y’all. Best. boyfriend. EVER.
