It’s fall y’all.
At least that’s what we say down here in these parts.
To me, Georgia is the epitome of the word FALL. From the coast to the mountains, and every little city in between, there is something to get excited about. Being a local in Atlanta for the past 3 years has taught me a great deal about the seasons. It’s hot as balls come spring and summer…then it cools off for maybe a month…and then my nipples stay rock solid for the rest of the year.Since Georgia has only a few short weeks where the weather is perfect, and the pumpkin spiced everythingggggg is flowin’, I wanted to give you each one of you something to experience in my neck of the woods!
Here are the 10 best things to do in Georgia this fall!
Walk Through Netherworld Haunted House
6624 Dawson Blvd, Norcross, GA 30093
Go easy on grandma’s pumpkin pie because you might be shittin’ your pants with this attraction. Known as being the #1 Haunted House in Georgia, you will soon know why. It’s like a self-guided nightmare to your ultimate fate. With movie like design, props and costumes, you will surely get a good scare. Don’t be a pussy, it’s fake right? MUAHAHAHA.
Go Apple Pickin’ and Cider tastin’ at Mercier Orchards
8660 Blue Ridge Dr, Blue Ridge, GA 30513
How can you help grandma make her sweet apple pie without any damn apples? Fun fact: I HATE PIE. There, I said it.
I’ve been to Mercier Orchards quite a few times…but there is something special about it in the fall. The views with colorful leaves for miles, the friendliness of the farm in general, it’s what this time of year is all about. You can take a hay ride around the property and learn about their history, and the fruit/veggies they produce OR what I like to do is a tasting (obviously). You’ve read my writing for a while now I hope, or maybe you’re new…but what’s my favorite wine/beer/cider??? SWEET! Boy oh boy do they have some of the best sweet wines and ciders. Their cider is actually new, and it’s amazing! You gotta try it for yourself!
Attend Oktoberfest in Helen
1074 Edelweiss Strasse, Helen, GA 30545
I am gonna be completely upfront with this one. Yes, I have been for Oktoberfest here, but would I go back again? Um, no.
Helen is definitely unique. It’s a replica of a cute little German town, yet it’s filled with old biker people. I mean, if that’s your thing then great! Don’t expect it to be as wild and crazy as the real Oktoberfest, but here you can still find German food, music and obviously beer. Why wouldn’t you want to get day drunk with strangers and drink out of boots? It’s worth checking out like I said…if that’s your thing.
Go on a Ghost tour in Savannah
No particular tour you need to take, you just need to hop on one of them! Savannah is known for its beauty, but why not add a sprinkle of spice to that? A ghost tour is the perfect way to enjoy the fall season. Plus, who doesn’t love Savannah any time of year? It’s worth it just to see the city!
Walk through a corn maze
5555 Crow Rd, Cumming, GA 30041
Ready for an a-MAZE-ing time? Okay was that corny? hahahah ahh I did it again. Sorry I crack myself up…okay anyways yes, the corn maze! My favorite pastime; Mama use to take me and my friends every year during fall! Warbington Farms isn’t JUST a corn maze. You’ve got a live petting zoo, a pumpkin patch a jumpy thing, and even an entire family fun park! The best way to spend a fall afternoon as long as you don’t get lost!
With autumn comes the bold flavors and spiced drinks, so what better way to celebrate than with a wine tasting? On top of being able to see the leaves change, you can be sippin’ on some fine wine while you take in the crisp, cool air. I’m sure that air will feel mighty fine after your 4th glass. I can’t pin-point one specific winery you should go to because, they’re all special! If you read my North Georgia Wineries Part 1 AND Part 2 you just might be able to pick one…or three!
Glamping in the Mountains
For those of you who don’t know…glamping is glamorous camping and it’s fucking awesome. You can do glamping one of two ways…the first being tent glamping, which you can read all about HERE, or you can go glamping in a camper! Personally, I had done both and they are equally just as fun. What makes this great for fall is becoming one with the outdoors. Making your own fire, roasting marshmallows and hiking through the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Not to mention all the fishing, and adventurous activities like zip-lining!
Scenic route up to the Mountains
Blue Ridge Parkway
Speaking of mountains, the drive up can be just as exciting and colorful! If you read my Fall Foliage post, you’d know that one of the best places to see the leaves change is the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sprawling landscapes, mountains for days and more colors than a Crayola Box! Roll the windows down, turn up the music and enjoy the fresh fall air.
Fright Fest at Six Flags
275 Riverside Parkway, Austell, Georgia, 30168
Real life Walking Dead? Roller coasters at night? Count me in! What better way to enjoy this holiday season than with a little thrill? Six Flags over Georgia, although, not the most well maintained park is a place for some serious scares! With Haunted Houses, scare- zones and spooky shows, you are sure to get the fall/Halloween experience. Don’t forget to rot your teeth out with candy apples, cotton candy and a large soda! Roller coasters are the best when you’re all jacked up on sugar! ha.
Pumpkin Fest at Stone Mountain
1000 Robert E. Lee Blvd, Stone Mountain, GA 30083
More tailored to the families with those annoying children is Pumpkin Fest! Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy going here to sweat my ass off hiking up the hill…but the fall brings new activities (and less sweat)! What makes it fun is the themed weekends where you and the fam can dress up for a reduced price entry fee! Bring Granny too so she can ride the Summit Skyride up to the top! Bring your cousins to race through the tree-tops in one of the nations largest ropes courses! Stone Mountain has it ALL!
Rent a Cabin with your Friends
It’s becoming a ritual that we do this every year for my birthday. November 17th in case anyone wants to send me presents or money :). I don’t think I have ever had more fun than getting all my closest friends together for a weekend in the woods. Lot’s of drinking, and a full on pajama party for 3 days straight. And other things that won’t be mentioned!
Let’s just say it’s a weekend we never remember! This year, I cannot wait for us all to wear our onsies, drink until we turn purple, and soak in the hot tub while overlooking the mountains! If you don’t have great friends like mine, I’m sure you can gather up some family for a weekend away! Guarantee it won’t be as fun though 😉
Well bitches, did you get your fall fix? Finally the weather is cooler, the leaves are colorful and I can hide the fact that I never worked on my beach body this year! Other than the activities I’ve mentioned though, are there any I forgot? Let me know so I can do more fun fall shit before winter comes! Until next time…
